“Iga braid is from the Iga-Ueno region. The origins of this art form are older than the Nara era.
Iga-Ueno currently produces more braid than any other region in Japan. The beautifully colored Iga brains, especially obijime and haorihimo, are very popular throughout Japan.
An obijime is a cord tied over the sash (obi) that is worn within a kimono.
A haorihimo is a short cord for doing up a half-length coat (haori).”
