The Tado Grand Shrine's annual festival is generally referred to as the Tado Matsuri, and the raising of the horse ritual is one of the events (rituals) included in the festival.
In this heroic ritual, six young male riders, chosen by divine divination and dressed as warriors, run up a 2-meter cliff in unison with their horses.
This ritual has long been used to predict the timing of agriculture and the abundance of crops.
In recent years, it has also been used to predict the strength or weakness of the economy. Many people also visit the shrine to pray for business prosperity and academic achievement.
