It connects Edo (Tokyo) and Kyoto. Yokkaichi is the 43rd inn town.
In the Edo period, Yokkaichi was connected to Miya-juku (Atsuta) in Owari by sea via the Juri no Watashi, and was crowded with people traveling on the Tokaido Highway and on their way to Ise.
